With Pence A Favorite, Trump Postpones Naming Running Mate

(Washington Post) -- Donald Trump abruptly postponed plans to announce his vice presidential pick after an attack left scores dead in Nice, France, a decision that raised questions about Trump’s selection process.

The presumptive GOP nominee had planned to introduce his running mate at a news conference Friday morning in New York, but said on Twitter Thursday evening that he would be postponing the event “in light of the horrible attack.”

During a day of rampant speculation, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence emerged as a late favorite for the job. Trump told Fox News he had not made his “final, final decision,” and his advisers cautioned that he could change his mind. The billionaire said his selection would “absolutely not” be changed by the France attack.

France Attack Highlights Differences In Trump, Clinton Terror Responses

(CNN) -- Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton struck different tones following the France terror attack Thursday night, with Trump saying he'd ask for a declaration of war against ISIS while Clinton called for greater intelligence gathering to fight terror groups.

The two major party candidates' responses again highlighted the sharp differences in their foreign policy stances, with Trump reiterating his belief that the U.S. needs to be "tough" in its response to terrorism.

In Nice, France, a driver plowed into a crowd celebrating Bastille Day, killing more than 70 people. Although it was not immediately clear whether the assailant had pledged allegiance to ISIS, Fox News' Bill O'Reilly asked Trump if he would seek a declaration of war from Congress against the terror group.

Attempts To Unbind GOP Delegates Crushed, Effectively Ending ‘Never Trump’

(Washinton Post) -- Republicans responsible for setting the party's presidential nomination rules on Thursday overwhelmingly rejected attempts to formally unbind delegates to next week's convention, effectively ending any serious attempt to rob Donald Trump of the GOP presidential nomination.

A vote came quickly Thursday night as part of a day-long marathon session of the Republican National Convention's rules committee, which sets the rules of the meetings and how the party will pick its nominee in 2020.

The rejection of the "unbinding" proposal was so overwhelming that committee leaders opted not to record the tally. Trump supporters on the committee quickly exercised procedural tactics to effectively kill any attempt to revive the issue -- and to codify that delegates are indeed bound to vote for the results of state caucuses and primaries.

'Pokemon Go' Finds Its Way Onto The Campaign Trail

(CNN) -- The popular new game "Pokemon Go" has officially made its way onto the 2016 campaign trail -- literally. The Clinton campaign announced it will hold an official event on Saturday to register voters at the "Madison Park Pokestop & PokeGYM" in Lakewood, Ohio.

"Join us as we go to the Pokestop in Madison Park and put up a lure module, get free pokemon, & battle each other while you register voters and learn more about Sec. Hillary Clinton!!!" the event page reads.

Clinton also referred to the app at a campaign rally in Virginia on Thursday. "I don't know who created Pokemon Go, but I'd try to figure out how to get them to have Pokemon go to the polls," she said.
