Trump Beats Expectations, Raises $51 Million With GOP In June

(Washington Post) -- Donald Trump raised more than $26 million through online and mail solicitations in June and another $25 million at events with the Republican National Committee, his campaign announced Wednesday, a hefty haul that his allies hope will put to rest anxieties in the party about his fundraising prowess.

The combined $51 million falls short of the $68.5 million that Democratic contender Hillary Clinton and the Democratic Party collected in June, which included $40.5 million she raised directly for her campaign. But it was the biggest monthly take by far for the presumptive GOP presidential nominee, who did not begin to hold fundraising events until late May. And it suggests Trump has the ability to quickly inject large sums of money into his campaign coffers by tapping into the fervor of his supporters.

Clinton, Sanders Discussing Endorsement Event

(ABC News) -- The Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders campaigns are discussing a potential event next week in New Hampshire, during which the Vermont senator would endorse Clinton's White House bid.

A Democrat familiar with the plans said Wednesday if the two sides continue to make progress, Clinton and Sanders would appear at the joint event Tuesday in New Hampshire. The Democrat spoke on condition of anonymity because the person was not authorized to discuss the plans.

Trump Camp May Lack Numbers To Stop Delegate Revolt

(CNN) -- Donald Trump's campaign still lacks a sufficient number of supportive delegates to guarantee that any revolt at the Republican National Convention could be put down, a key committee delegate says.

RNC Committeeman from Georgia and Rules Committee delegate Randy Evans, a lawyer who also works with the RNC and the Trump campaign, estimates that Trump has the support locked up of 888 delegates to Cleveland this month in the event of an effort to unbind delegates, leaving them free to vote for any candidate.

Rubio Plans To Skip The Republican National Convention

(HuffPo) -- Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) says he will not attend the Republican National Convention in Cleveland later this month. In May, Rubio told CNN’s Jake Tapper that he would attend the RNC, vowing “to be helpful” in the fight against Hillary Clinton. But now that Rubio is running for re-election in the Senate, he’ll be too busy with campaigning to attend, said spokeswoman Olivia Perez-Cubas.

“Florida has always been a competitive state and it will be this fall. Marco had planned to go to the convention before he decided to seek re-election. Since Marco got into the race late, he will be in Florida campaigning and meeting with voters instead of going to Ohio,” Perez-Cubas told the Tampa Bay Times.
