56 Days Till Election Day: New polls from Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, New Hampshire, Florida, Ohio

STATE POLLING

New polls today from Arizona (tied), Georgia (Clinton +1), Nevada (Clinton +2), New Hampshire (Clinton +1), Florida (Clinton +2), and Ohio (Clinton +7).

This latest batch of polls is not very good news for Team Trump. The GOP candidate is trending backwards in the states he needs to be winning, and if the Ohio numbers continue to trend at this level, it's about as bad as it gets -- no Republican has ever won the White House without winning Ohio.

Then again, nothing about this campaign has made much sense. And there are 141 electoral votes in states where neither candidate has more than a four-point lead, so things could change quickly. As it is, though, with the latest numbers, Ohio has switched to "leaning Democrat" which gives Clinton a 200 to 155 "safe" electoral lead over Trump with a projected overall lead of 340 to 198.

Here are the current averages from the battleground states:

Leaning Republican

South Carolina: Trump up by 5.6%
Maine (CD2): Trump up by 4%
Arizona: Trump up by 1.6%
Georgia: Trump up by 1.5%
Iowa: Trump up by 1.2%

Leaning Democrat

Ohio: Clinton up by 0.7%
North Carolina: Clinton up by 1.9%
Florida: Clinton up by 1.8%
Michigan: Clinton up by 2.7%
Nevada: Clinton up by 3%
Wisconsin: Clinton up by 3.2%
New Hampshire: Clinton up by 4.1%
Colorado: Clinton up by 5%
Pennsylvania: Clinton up by 5.3%
Virginia: Clinton up by 5.6%

Here are the State Polling Averages for all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Note: You may see different results from the NBC/WSJ/Marist polls on other sites today, as we went with the results from four-candidate survey of registered voters, as is our preference when available. Marist polls registered voters and likely voters and uses both two- and four-candidate questions.

NATIONAL POLLING

No new polls today.

The current composite polling average in a four-candidate field has Clinton leading Trump by 3.1%.
