Trump On Clinton: 'She Took A Short-Circuit In The Brain'

(CNN) -- Donald Trump pumped up his attacks on Hillary Clinton's character Saturday night by suggesting that the former secretary of state is not mentally fit to be president.

"She took a short-circuit in the brain. She's got problems," Trump said, seizing on Clinton's explanation that she "short-circuited" a recent answer about her truthfulness in discussing her email server.

"Honestly, I don't think she's all there," he added. The attacks flowed from the Republican nominee as he once again tore into Clinton as "unstable," "unbalanced" and "totally unhinged."

Clinton Acknowledges Misspeaking About FBI Director’s Testimony

(Washington Post) -- In an effort to clarify her most recent statements about her use of a private email server as secretary of state, Hillary Clinton on Friday only further muddled a controversy that has dogged her presidential candidacy from the start.

Clinton acknowledged that she had misspoken in two recent media interviews when she claimed that FBI Director James B. Comey had characterized as "truthful" all of her public statements about her use of a private email server.

She explained that Comey was referring only to her interviews with the FBI — but she also insisted that all of her other public statements on the matter have been consistent with those interviews.

WikiLeaks Walks Back Assange Claim On Hacking Trump Tax Returns

(CNN) -- WikiLeaks on Saturday walked back a claim made by its founder, Julian Assange, that it was "working on" obtaining Donald Trump's undisclosed tax returns.

Assange's remark came at the end of a contentious interview Friday with "Real Time" host Bill Maher, during which the two discussed WikiLeaks' recent disclosure of Democratic National Committee emails and voicemails. Assange, who has vowed to release more information to damage Hillary Clinton's campaign, was asked by Maher, a Clinton supporter, whether he plans to similarly disrupt Trump's presidential prospects.

"Why don't you hack into Donald Trump's tax return?" Maher asked. "Well, we're working on it," responded Assange, who did not provide further information.

Jill Stein Officially Wins Green Party Nomination

(Washington Examiner) -- Jill Stein was officially chosen by the Green Party Saturday as its nominee for president at the party's convention in Houston.

"I'm honored beyond words to be your candidate, and I'm so honored to be running for president of the United States with the Green Party — the only party of, by and for the people," she said to the audience.

Stein has hedged her long-shot campaign on record dissatisfaction with the two major party candidates running for the White House: Republican nominee Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. She has also reached out to disaffected supporters of Bernie Sanders, many of whom feel cheated by the Democratic Party after a WikiLeaks email dump revealed party officials actively discussing how to subvert his primary campaign against Clinton.
